Dr. Tyrrell B

Dr. M. Tyrrell Burrus is a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery serving in three convenient locations across Austin, Texas and surrounding areas. He specializes in operative and non-operative management of complex shoulder and knee injuries. Utilizing the latest technology and innovations in medicine, Dr. Burrus strives to provide state-of-the-art orthopedic care for patients of all ages suffering from joint-related pain, discomfort, or decreased range of motion. A native of Southeast Texas, Dr. Burrus attended Washington and Lee University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.S. in Biology, magna cum laude, and played varsity soccer. During medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Virginia where he scored in the 100th percentile nationally for his in-training exam and served as Administrative Chief Resident. Following residency, he completed a Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan under many nationally and internationally recognized surgeons and received additional training in hip arthroscopy. For Part I Examination of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (certifying examination), Dr. Burrus scored in the 95th percentile compared to the national average.
