Dr. Kevin R. Stone is a pioneer of advanced orthopedic surgical and rehabilitation techniques to repair, regenerate, and replace damaged cartilage and ligaments. He is an orthopedic surgeon at The Stone Clinic and also the chairman of the Stone Research Foundation. He lectures around the world as an expert in cartilage and meniscal growth, replacement, and repair and holds over 40 U.S. patents on novel inventions to improve healthcare. Dr. Stone was educated at Harvard College and earned his M.D. at the University of North Carolina. He trained in Internal Medicine at Harvard's Beth Israel Hospital, General Surgery at the Stanford University Medical Center, Orthopaedic Surgery at the Harvard University Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program, a Knee Surgery and Sports Medicine Fellowship and a visiting Research Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He is a physician for Smuin Ballet and has served as a physician for the U.S. Ski Team and the U.S. Pro Ski Tour.Kevin R. Stone founded The Stone Clinic in 1988, combining himself, an orthopedic surgeon and knee specialist in San Francisco, with a team of nurses, physical therapists, imaging specialists, and patient coordinators, to focus on caring for injured athletes and people experiencing arthritis pain. The clinical practice goal of rehabilitating all patients to a level higher than they were before they were injured set the tone. Surgical procedures were subjected to rigorous outcomes analysis with the results reported in peer reviewed journals. The surgical techniques have been taught to surgeons around the world, through lectures and videos.
