At Awakening Hands Bodywork Maui we use an integrative approach to relax & help realign the body. Our special focus is Myofascial Release and Structural bodywork. With the integrative approach, we use all therapeutic massage techniques from Swedish techniques, Trigger Point Release, Body Mobilization & stretching, Deep Tissue Release, etc. All of these techniques assist the body & mind to unwind & relax. Breathwork is an integral part of all sessions; We live & function in a Flexion Society!! What does that mean? We, as a society, sit, work, text, work on computers, etc. with the front of our bodies Fascially shortened & bound into a tight, limiting position. Myofascial Release & Structural Bodywork coupled with good breathing and movement, opens the body, especially the Pelvic and Shoulder Girdles, creating more space within the body to lengthen and regain a more neutral, less stressed, more healthy, more active body temple! For a client to truly regain functional health and balance, movement/exercise is extremely important. A limber spine and body are critical for one's ability to dance, swing a golf club or tennis racket, play soccer, football, baseball or throw frisbee! We offer instruction to support our clients in unwinding the tighter side of the body then strengthen the weaker side; thus creating proper balance. We also link with friends on Maui who offer Yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Egoscue, Beach Dancing, Frisbee, gyms, kayaking and swimming.
