St. Bernard Hospital began more than a century ago as the vision of the Rev. Bernard Murray, the leader of St. Bernard's Church in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood. In an effort to bring adequate health care to the community, Murray asked the Kingston, Canada-based Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph, a community of women religious, for help in founding a local hospital. In 1903, the group sent seven sisters who, along with community residents, raised funds for the hospital's construction, breaking ground in 1904. On Nov. 21, 1905, the hospital was dedicated St. Bernard Hotel Dieu - "house of God." Throughout the years, the hospital has evolved alongside the community it serves, modernizing and adding to its facilities to keep pace with advances in medicine and the standard of care. St. Bernard is centrally located in the heart of the South Side of Chicago.

In addition to general family medicine, we offer a wide range of specialty care services, including emergency medicine, mental health services, physical therapy and orthopedics, dentistry, special needs dentistry, and podiatry. We also treat acute and chronic conditions, such as heart disease, COPD, asthma and diabetes. Our Women's Wellness Clinic offers pregnancy testing and child birth, and gynecology services. We offer state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging MRI and CT services.

Yeah, I’ve been going there for years. Behavioral Health Clinic’s outpatient and even inpatient saved my life. Been going here for years. Even when I had Medicaid and then Medicare, they took care of me. I realized that the key to getting better mentally (whether you’re severely mentally disabled or you’re battling a brief depression) is realizing where you are mentally, being consistent in treatment and having a support system like family, socialization, work , and a few intangibles(I.e. education on mental health). Customer satisfaction and service can be better though. Their mental health care is better than the County’s hospitals and clinics located on the Southside.

Took my daughter to the Urgent care clinic first, didn't wait long, however, the dr sent us to ER...the nurse Tracy was beyond professional and nice...at the ER the staff was just as nice, we didn't waiting to get seen, for my daughter had a serious issue. And thats where we encountered nurse Sam. He was beyond the greatest. I must admit I read reviews first and anticipated the worse. Was pleasantly surprised...not only was the staff and security very nice the facility was nice and clean too!
