Dr. Artem Abakumov has a collective 7 years of working in pediatrics. This includes working with kids at a sensory integration occupational therapy practice and in behavioral therapy. In the athletic field, Dr. Abakumov specializes in sports that are highly dynamic with emphasis on surfing, rock climbing, snowboarding, gymnastics, kayaking, and the everyday athlete. His passion is to solve problems and help others reach their highest potential. ​ Dr. Abakumov grew up in the northwestern region of the Black Sea on the Crimean peninsula in Sevastopol, Ukraine. He immigrated to Chicago, Illinois in 1999 where he completed his formal education and received his degree in psychology with a focus in behavioral research. He then moved to southern California where he earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic and continues to pursue sports medicine. ​

At On Axis Health the focus is on functional treatment of injury. A functional approach is a deep approach. It's not just treating the obvious area of pain (the obvious injury). It's looking at you and finding out where your imbalances are. Do you have flat feet? Do you have a high arch? Do you support your posture well? Do you move well in simple, basic movement patterns? How do you apply your movement strategies to your daily activities or sport? Looking at the function of a person helps to determine why that injury occurred and what can be done while that injury is healing to make sure that not only the injury heals, but that it does not return because you have not addressed the true cause. That is the functional approach to healing.

Has been tremendously helpful to my husband and I. He was able figure out what was wrong with my shoulder in minutes when most PT's I have seen could not figure it out with hours and an MRI. He also was the first PT to show concern when my husband's shoulder and hips popped and clicked loudly when he moved them. I would give him 7 stars if I could. Highly, Highly recommend his services.

Artem is The Man! Best whole body guy I have ever had. He is very detailed in his approach and understands that the body' systems all need to work together to achieve results. His chiro work is not rough and soft tissue work is appropriate to the needs of the client. His bedside manner is excellent and he really listens to the what the client may be struggling with and quickly formulates a plan to rectify those issues. I cannot recommend highly enough! 10/10

Artem is a game changer! He has helped me so much with chronic neck, shoulder, and lower back issues caused by many years of playing golf, working at a computer all day, and various injuries from physical activities.
