Enabling Telehealth
- Go to Settings > Telehealth in your EHR dashboard.
- Toggle Enable Telehealth Visits on.
- Configure which appointment types can be conducted via telehealth.
- Set telehealth-specific scheduling rules (duration, availability).
Conducting a Visit
At the scheduled time, open the appointment and click Start Telehealth Session. The patient joins from their end. The video platform is built into Medximity — no third-party software needed.
Documentation
Document telehealth visits the same way as in-person visits using SOAP notes. Note the visit modality (telehealth) for billing and compliance purposes.
Requirements
- Verify that telehealth is permitted under your state licensing board regulations.
- Ensure you have appropriate malpractice coverage for telehealth services.
- Obtain informed consent for telehealth at or before the first virtual visit.
- Comply with state-specific telehealth prescribing rules.
