Getting Care from Home

Many providers on MedXimity offer telehealth appointments, allowing you to see a doctor via video call from the comfort of your home.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth (or telemedicine) is a way to receive healthcare remotely using video technology. Instead of visiting an office, you connect with your provider through a secure video call.

Finding Telehealth Providers

Look for the telehealth badge on provider profiles:

  • Use the "Telehealth Available" filter when searching
  • Look for the video icon on provider listings
  • Check if "Video Visit" is an available appointment type

How Video Visits Work

  1. Book Your Appointment: Select "Video Visit" or "Telehealth" as the appointment type
  2. Receive Link: You'll get a video link via email before your appointment
  3. Join the Call: At your appointment time, click the link to connect
  4. See Your Provider: Have your appointment just like an in-person visit
  5. Follow Up: Get prescriptions, referrals, or follow-up instructions

Technical Requirements

For a smooth telehealth experience, you'll need:

  • Device: Computer, tablet, or smartphone with camera and microphone
  • Internet: Stable internet connection (at least 5 Mbps recommended)
  • Browser: Updated web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
  • Environment: Quiet, private space with good lighting

What Can Be Treated via Telehealth?

Many conditions can be addressed through video visits:

  • Cold and flu symptoms
  • Allergies
  • Skin conditions (rashes, acne)
  • Mental health consultations
  • Medication refills
  • Follow-up appointments
  • Minor injuries

Benefits of Telehealth

  • No travel time or waiting rooms
  • Access care from anywhere
  • Often shorter wait times for appointments
  • Reduced exposure to illnesses
  • Convenient for busy schedules
