Dr. Klein was born and raised in New York City but became a permanent transplant to Hilo in 1980. He and his wife are both 6th Dan instructors of Aikido with over 35 years teaching experience. They have 4 daughters & 2 grandsons. Dr. Klein received his Doctor of Chiropractic, Cum Laude from the National College of Chiropractic (NCC) in 1978. The same year he became a Diplomate of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. During 1979 and 1980 he served as a lecturer at NCC, until becoming licensed to practice in Hawaii and moving here in 1980. Dr. Klein is also a Qualified Applied Kinesiologist of the International College of Applied Kinesiology (1980 & 1985); Certified in Impairment & Disability Rating (1981, 1983, 1986 & 1990); Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists (1993); Fellow in the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (1993). He's served on the State Board of Chiropractic Examiners & as an officer of County, State and National Chiropractic Assns.Originally located on Furneaux Lane in downtown Hilo, our office was Hawaii County's first chiropractic practice. Dr. O.A.Ohlson started in 1967 but moved to Maui in 1980 and turned the office over to Dr. Klein. in 1986 we moved to our present location, Hilo's largest free-standing natural health care center. The old plantation style home we occupy is a comfortable and relaxing site with a history of health care. In the 1950s, Mrs. Hawayo Takata operated a clinic here offering Reiki treatments. This Japanese method of energy healing was taught and spread from here by Mrs. Takata and is now used all over the world. We maintain a small Reiki shrine which receives visitors from many different countries.
