Ellen Hamilton, PT, OCS has been a physical therapist in the Birmingham area since graduating from the Medical College of Georgia in 1979.  She became an  Orthopedic Certified Specialist  in 1993 and received her Masters in Physical Therapy in 2005 from UT Memphis.  She worked initially in neurologic rehabilitation but switched to orthopedic physical therapy in 1984.  She is a guest lecturer at the UAB and Samford Schools of Physical Therapy.  She has received the Loretta Boger Award for Excellence in Continuing Education and the Marilyn Gossman Award for Service to the Alabama Physical Therapy Association.  She has served on the boards of the Orthopedic Section of the APTA and the Alabama Chapter of the APTA. Birmingham Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine was founded in 2005 by Ellen Hamilton and Andrea Abercrombie.  Now owned solely by Ellen Hamilton, the business has steadily grown due to its niche market of one-on-one physical therapy in the Cahaba Heights area and now has 6 physical therapists.  It offers progressive, evidence-based interventions including instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization and manipulation, functional dry needling, cupping, visceral mobilization and exercise.  Sports specific screenings as well as running and golf evaluations are also available at the clinic.
