A car accident left Laura paralyzed from the neck down. She was told she would never walk again, nor lead a normal life. She did not accept that diagnosis and got to work amassing a team built around the foundations of Chinese medicine to provide rehab training, acupuncture, Chiropractic, Massage, Nutrition, and counseling. Laura proved her doctors wrong and went on to overcome her limitations. Once she was back on her feet, Laura was determined to create a center that could provide all the medical disciplines she utilized to recover, in one place so they could be optimized in a coordinated approach. Adam came on board on the ground floor and together they developed the Awakenings program. What started out as a center for the disabled became a center for the masses to receive compassionate care and expertise on optimizing gains on any level. They are here to help you overcome obstacles, heal, thrive and ultimately, maximize your potential -physically, emotionally, mentally, spirituallyAwakenings Health was started in 2005 as a non-profit multi-disciplinary rehabilitation center tending to the disabled population, overcoming traumatic injuries and neurological disorders. It grew to become a center focused on helping anyone maximize their capabilities to access their potential on all levels- physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Awakenings Health strives to provide the most advanced care within our scope of practice, as well as ensure you are receiving a comprehensively integrated "team" approach spanning your entire healthcare team. We will connect with your other providers to coordinate treatment plans. And if you require other services, we will be sure to refer you to the most respected healthcare professionals in the area. In 2016, Awakenings has moved its practice to Raleigh, NC, where it will, once again, position itself as a central figure to help people receive the benefits of a healthcare system working together for the betterment of each patient.
