I grew up as the sick kid of the family, suffering from: asthma, allergies, spinal meningitis and immune problems. Imagine yourself in the hospital as a young kid, scared, alone and coughing in the middle of the night. Test after test, and medications to cover up the symptoms with no end in sight. In my twenty's a Doctor of Chiropractic told me that I was the best healer in the world and that breathing came from the brain stem in my upper neck. I liked breathing so much that I went to school and became an Upper Cervical Specific Chiropractor. I was in and out of the hospital for my asthma, spinal meningitis, double pneumonia and severe allergy problems. I can remember lying in the hospital bed crying my eyes out waiting for my parents to come visit me. All my life I had to avoid a list of things that would trigger my allergies or give me an asthma attack. My sister introduced me to her chiropractor and I decided to give it a try. After all, I thought it would hurt a lot less than all the painful tests and drugs that I had used in the past. The chiropractor did an exam, took some films, and then "adjusted" my spine. The adjustment didn't hurt, it actually felt good. I got relief, and I could actually breathe during hay fever season! It worked so well that I went to chiropractic school myself.
