Patient Communication Tools

Last updated Jun 28, 2026

Secure Messaging

All messages between providers and patients on Medximity are encrypted and HIPAA-compliant. Messages are delivered to the patient's Medximity inbox with optional email and SMS notifications.

What You Can Do

  • Send and receive text messages
  • Attach documents, images, and files
  • Share lab results and clinical documents
  • Send intake forms and consent documents
  • Broadcast messages to groups of patients (appointment reminders, office updates)

Best Practices

  • Respond to patient messages within 24 business hours.
  • Do not use messaging for emergencies — ensure patients know to call 911 for emergencies.
  • Document any clinical advice given via message in the patient's chart.

Compliance Notes

Medximity messaging meets HIPAA requirements for electronic communication. All messages are encrypted in transit and at rest. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
