Dr. Mortensen has always been interested in alternative healthcare since experiencing excruciating intestinal pain as a teen that conventional medicine was unable to figure out what was going on or provide adequate treatment. Currently Dr. Mortensen practices functional healthcare which investigates the root causes of issues and look to restore function to the body through various means.Dr. Mortensen has practiced alternative medicine since graduating in 2001. Over time his practice has evolved to include multiple practitioners including functional medicine, acupuncturists, massage therapists and chiropractors.

Integrated Functional Medicine looks to get to the route cause of disease and illness by addressing each person individually. Each patient will go through a very thorough history and physical exam(often in excess of 1 hour). The history and exam will then guide us to which functional testing should be performed. The functional testing used in combination with the history and physical exam will guide us in the treatment protocol for that individual.
