Nicole Richter -- MA, CMP, Certified Pilates Trainer, Certified Hendrickson Method Practitioner. An avid mover all her life, Nicole has taught Pilates since 2002. She came to Pilates from a career in contemporary dance, most notably as founding director of Detours Dance Theatre in London and as Co-Artistic Director of AXIS Dance Company, the Bay Area's renowned professional dance company comprised of dancers with and without physical disabilities. She specializes in integrated Pilates and bodywork for dancers and athletes; for special issues including pre- and post-natal, injury post-rehab, disability, and scoliosis; and for just those crunky issues that otherwise refuse to go away. As a Certified Massage Practitioner, the Hendrickson Method of orthopedic manual therapy complements her work with her clients. She trained with Ellie Herman (Pilates), Tom Hendrickson (HM), Jean Couch & Jenn Sherer (Alignment), Karena Thek (Scolio Pilates), and Patrick Douce (Feldenkrais), amongst othersOur studio was founded in 2015 as a unique health and fitness haven in the heart of the East Bay. As a women- and POC-owned business, we have from the beginning modeled local community activism, green business practices, and inclusivity for all. In 2019, founder Nicole Richter moved the studio to her adored island hometown of Alameda. She loves being embedded in her local community but still so accessible to her Oakland clients.
