Dr. Garrett Petry, PT, DPT received an athletic scholarship from California Polytechnic University at Pomona where he studied Sports Medicine and competed on the Men's Soccer team. He continued his education and earned a doctorate in physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine in San Diego and followed the manual therapy emphasis for which university is renowned. With that emphasis, Garrett honed skills in understanding and treating every region of the spine, including the lumbo-pelvic region and upper cervical spine. During a post-graduate internship with Body Gears, Garrett studied under Rebecca Johnson, April Oury, and other members of the Body Gears Team. Garrett relocated to Chicago to practice within the culture that is Body Gears and Functional Manual Therapy™. He believes, "Body Gears provides the opportunity to have a profoundly positive effect on my patients through the comprehensive approach of Functional Manual Therapy™.Body Gears Physical Therapy (formerly Dynamic Physical Therapy) has established a reputation as the center of Manual Therapy treatment in the Midwest. With six convenient locations across the Chicagoland area (Chicago-Downtown, Chicago-Lincoln Park, Oak Brook, Oak Park, Wheaton and Winnetka), Body Gears is the clinic many doctors and elite athlete's visit when they themselves require physical therapy. We use techniques that have been proven to work through hands-on success and scientific research. Body Gears' approach is based on the Institute of Physical Art's methodology. As a residency site for The Institute, we have Fellows as well as Certified Functional Manual Therapists on staff.
