Before I was ever a physical therapist, I was a competitive powerlifter and an educator--after getting injured and learning about the world of rehab, my headstrong brain wouldn't let it go. I eventually changed my career intending to specialize in sports rehab, but my experience treating folks with neurological conditions shifted my entire worldview. After a neurological event, be it a stroke, spinal cord injury, or new diagnosis--one has to find the strongest parts of themselves to fight for recovery, summoning strength beyond which even competitive powerlifters have! Don't they deserve a clinic designed for them, with a therapist who will guide them through that hard work to help get them back to living the way they want to? I founded Headstrong to make this a reality. I am on a mission to make the pursuit of strength accessible to everyone.

We are a locally owned physical therapy practice in Kalamazoo providing neurological, sport, and orthopedic physical therapy. Our private facility is designed for wheelchair accessibility so that here, everyone can work to become their strongest selves. Whether you had a stroke, got injured on the pickleball courts, or just want to move better without pain or dizziness, we got your back!

I cannot recommend Jessica at Headstrong Physical Therapy enough! My son needed physical therapy due to some knee injuries sustained from basketball and she was a dream. Extremely knowledgeable and positive. She went out of her way to explain everything to not only me but my son, to the point that he’s considering physical therapy as a profession. Her care plan was highly individualized for him and as soon as she saw he no longer needed her services, she graduated him but made sure he knew she could contact her anytime if he had questions. If anyone in my family needs PT again, Jessica would be the first person i contact.

Jess is absolutely amazing! If your looking for someone to build a plan that makes sense for you and someone who really listens and cares then she's your girl! As an added bonus her space is great and always so clean! I highly recommend!

Jack Loomis

This is the place to go for PT. Jess is a passionate athlete herself so she understands all aspects of needing PT. Most PT's, that I know of, are not athletes and only understand getting you back to full function not back to your life. I am a martial artist and weight lifter which requires some pretty dynamic movements along with the stress of weights. Jess got me back to living and not just functional.
