Dr. Cindy has Extended study in the areas of sports rehabilitation, clinical nutrition (weight loss & detoxification), exercise physiology, prenatal care, pediatrics, functional endocrinology and veterinary orthopedic manipulation. This has enabled Dr. Durakis to provide a comprehensive approach to healing. Dr. Durakis has specific expertise with regard to the diagnosis and natural treatment of menopausal symptoms (bio-identical hormone replacement therapy) and hormonal imbalance. She is also a supplier for Standard Process supplements, high quality supplements made with whole foods.
As a lifelong sports enthusiest, weekend warrior and mother of two athletic daughters, her practice has naturally grown in the direction of sports injury prevention and rebilitation.Dr. Durakis joins The Healing Tree with +25 years of experience in private practice and has extensive experience lecturing and writing on the subject of wellness and chiropractic care. She began her practice in 1994 on Prince Street at The Durakis Chiropractic Center of Old Town. She holds a BA dgree from Colgate Univerity, and a DC (doctor of chiropractic) from Life university. Prior to beginning her private practice, she served as the Professional Affairs Director for the Internation Chiropractic Asociation. She served on the Alexandria City public School Wellness Task Force, was the chairman for the Alexandria Professional Women's Network and has been a frequent contributor to the Old Town Crier. Dr. Durakis has coached ASA soccer and Alexandria youth volleyball for three years and has earned a 3rd degree blackbelt in taekwondo.
