The White Cloud Temple was first founded in the mid-8th century during the Tang Dynasty, and was initially called Tianchang Abbey (Abbey of Celestial Perpetuity). During this period, the abbey was state sponsored and staffed by an elite clergy. From 1125-1215 when what is now Beijing was controlled by the Jin Dynasty, the abbey served as the Daoist administrative headquarters and played an important role in state religious cults. In 1148, the abbey was taken over by the Quanzhen patriarch Qiu Chuji, and became the headquarters of the Quanzhen movement until the establishment of the Ming Dynasty. He renamed the abbey Changchun Gong (Palace of Eternal Spring). Qiu's successor Yin Zhiping (1169-1251) built a memorial shrine over Qiu's grave. This shrine became a temple in its own right called Baiyun Guan. The abbey was damaged when the Mongols took over in the late 13th century, and during Ming times the Changchun GongBack in 1990s, Dr. Wu came to Santa Monica, started his business.

Amazing healing wisdom of Shifu Wu and his son. Very professional and made sure I understood everything thoroughly in this very special, one of a kind I Ching class. After 24 years of on and off practicing Bagua, this class felt like I JUST met the I Ching for the first time, hearing her true history and purpose and everything has been preparing me for this class. “1 in a 1000.” Gratitude
Dr Wu has completely changed my life and I cannot recommend him more. I’ve been to lots of acupuncturists over the years when I lived in NYC and Chicago, but I moved to LA in March of 2019 and have been seeing Dr Wu regularly since. He is a true healer. He has regulated my periods and helped with my anxiety tremendously. I also feel generally more aware of my body and am better able to recognize anything I need his help with. I’ve come in a few times upset or stressed and always feel so much better after my session. I think of him and Lily as my acupuncture family! I love them! Also Dr Wu is mind blowingly intuitive - my first visit he knew I went through a tough breakup when I was 23 (no clue how he would’ve known that). He’s amazing!
I have been going to Dr Wu for a few years and he provides me with comprehensive treatment. Getting acupuncture treatment completely cured physical issues I had been dealing with including persistent back pain and sinus infections. I go to his workshops on Qi Gong and I get alot from those classes. Most recently, I have been working on a fasting program with him and have seen tremendous results. All in all, going to Dr Wu gives me peace of mind and a strong foundation to succeed in my ambitions - career, athletic and anything else.
Dr. Wu is a powerful healer who has provided me with important medical treatment. He brings substantial experience and knowledge to his patients and wraps all that up with the most understanding attitude.
Dr Wu is a consummate professional of the highest order. His dedication to his work and helping others in all encompassing; not just as an acupuncturist but as a teacher. He has helped many of my personal friends and clients alike overcome a myriad of different medical and emotional balance issues. Having known him for almost a decade I would say he has helped many people I know, avoid a lot of pain.
My own experience is I would say too hard to describe, or perhaps at least too personal for a public forum; but I would say that he has my deepest respect and gratitude. Not only for helping me but for all the loved ones around me; and my professional clients over the years. If you are have an opportunity to get an appointment with him, I would say go for it. I have never seen anything but the maximum effort from him to truly help others in his practice.
Dr. Baolin Wu Gave Me Back My Life: By age 36, I had already suffered for at least 10 years from fibromyalgia - chronic fatigue, chronic pain, chronic headaches, adrenal failure.- just barely maintaining, feeling a shadow of my former robust self.
I had sought help from Western medical doctors, chiropractors, bodyworkers, nutritionists, psychotherapists & healers all with limited or partial success.
I meditated to find the right healer for me and I finally found Dr. Baolin Wu in Santa Monica, California. Dr. Wu gave me acupuncture, herbs and chi (qigong / chi kung). I also became a student of his, taking his Chi Gong and Feng Shui Workshops. I am happy to say that my strength, stamina and positive disposition are back to normal and I am symptom-free - no pain, headaches, no digestive problems, fatigue or memory problems.
I had been truly fearful for my life and future before I met Dr. Wu. Now, I see a bright and happy future for myself. Dr. Wu has been a godsend. I cannot thank him enough.
Dr. Wu is a former Taoist monk, raised in the White Cloud Monastery near Beijing, China and trained in medical Chi Gong. He is both Western and Eastern Medically trained, holding an Eastern Medical License from China, and a Ph.D. in neurophysiology and a Western Medical License from Japan. He is a true rarity - a once in this generation trained healer, an extremely gifted Doctor as well as being an expert in the art of the I Ching and Feng Shui as well. I also highly recommend his workshops / classes for Chi Gong and Feng Shui.
Patients must be patient as the work is very subtle, gentle but very effective if you stick exactly to what Dr. Wu prescribes. I have seen miracles happen within myself and within other patients of Dr. Wu and I can definitely say that there is hope for others. I highly recommend Dr. Wu and am eternally grateful to him for helping me restore my health.
Now at 59 years old, I continue to see Dr. Wu regularly for acupuncture, herbs and teas and have almost fully recovered from a very bad leg and back injury, sustained from an ocean accident in Hawaii, that was causing constant pain and difficulty in walking and am also addressing hormonal changes as I go through menopause. I have experienced great improvement in my overall functioning and reduction in leg and back pain.
I see myself following the customary Chinese practice of working on prevention and maintenance as much as I can and having Dr. Wu as part of my "team" has been extremely beneficial, and for me, essential. I continue to highly recommend Dr. Wu.
