About

Andrew graduated from the University of Pittsburgh's Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2008. While at Pitt, Andrew received extensive orthopedic and manual physical therapy training. Since then Andrew completed a year-long training (2012-2013) with Evidence in Motion to achieve his Certification in Manual Therapy. He then became Board Certified in Orthopedics by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (2014). From there, Andrew entered and completed a Fellowship program in Orthopedic Manual Therapy with Evidence in Motion (2014-2016). Fellowship is the highest level of education able to be attained in our profession, which entails 2-3 years of training focused on evidenced based clinical knowledge and reasoning coupled with hands on mentoring/skill training with other fellows. This something only about 1-2% of physical therapists complete during their career. Andrew's primary area of interest is in treating patients with low back and neck pain. However, he is trainedZang Physical Therapy became an idea in 2015. I was nearing the end of my fellowship training in orthopedic manual physical therapy and came to realize I wanted something different for the patients I treated. In my career to that point, I worked in a traditional outpatient orthopedic setting. We saw patients every 30 minutes with new patient evaluations getting 60 minutes. This was great because some clinics saw patients every 15 minutes, which is way too fast with minimal attention for the actual paying patient. Such was the routine I lived with and it worked well for the most part. However, given my recent training, I often had more questions to get answered and wanted to control every little detail related to patient care and not rely on delegating to support staff (that is the norm in the outpatient realm). I started to become frustrated and noticed I was starting to run behind schedule at times, something I hated doing to patients.
