About
My work is a hands-on technique of slow manipulation of the fascia, a type of moldable connective tissue abundant in the body. This tissue gets compressed and dense due to aging, injuries, long-term poor posture, surgeries, certain diseases, being immobilized, or the flu. This compression can be reversed by adding slow directional pressure to the fascia. Rolfing looks like a slow, specfic massage but has lasting effects. I am always in communication with my clients during our Rolfing partnership. Before becoming a Certified Rolfer in1979, I lived in Taiwan for a year studying Mandarin. I also had a powerful healing experience there with acupuncture, which sparked my interest in alternative healing techniques. I decided to try Rolfing because I had a very extreme lordosis (sway back). The result was I gained over an inch in height when the forward tilt of my pelvis became more vertical. Everyone thought I had lost a lot of weight but it was simply my spine having the length it was designed to have. I looked better and emotionally felt more solid and "comfortable in my skin". I love working one-to-one with people in this transformational process. It addresses physical issues as well a psycho-emotional issues that talk therapy often doesn't touch.
