About
Bruce practices client-centered therapy and figuring out the client's preferred approach is often the first step. Bruce finds client input, engagement, and feedback are typically helpful for best outcomes. In terms of the therapeutic container, Bruce enjoys working as a team and meeting the client in the middle. Beyond manual therapy, Bruce appreciates the complexities of the biopsychosocial model wherein psychological, social, functional, and/or behavioral components are interacting with the whole person and client outcomes. Decreasing overall bodily compression through better strategizing, time management, and more body-friendly ergonomics is a part of the solution. Especially in chronic scenarios, troubleshooting the client's activities of daily life, as a team, is often a missing piece of the tricky therapeutic puzzle. Qi cannot optimally flow where fascia is fixated. Helping people help themselves by nurturing the ecosystem of psyche, soma and self.A personal history of sports related & head and neck injuries set the stage for my exhaustive search in both western and non-western modalities for physical rehabilitation. On a technical level, I have studied extensively and dedicated myself and my practice to being firmly rooted in real anatomy and rationally addressing bio-mechanical problems, alignment and motion restrictions within the connective tissues of our body. On a non-technical level, my personal journey dealing with pain has allowed me to seriously empathize with and relate to other people's issues. The body has a lot of sensations and nuances that are not quantifiable but never the less real and important to fully feel and integrate within the mind-body continuum. While these perceptions and sensations are often misunderstood and/or marginalized within the mainstream, my practice values them as much as any other aspect related to recovery. My intention is not to impose an agenda, but rather to meet you where you are at.
