Originally from Thousand Oaks, CA, he moved to Las Vegas to practice orthopedics. After graduating Suma Cum Laude at UC Berkeley (Engineering Undergrad), he went to USC for medical school and orthopedic residency. He enhanced his education with two fellowships: one at UC San Diego (Joint Replacements and Cartilage Restoration) and the other at Duke University (Sports Medicine). He is board certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.We pride ourselves in being specialists for sports injuries. We are Team Physicians for UNLV Athletics, CSN Athletics, NBA Summer League, Las Vegas MAACO Bowl.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Yu, and two of his PA’s for a couple of years due to aging knee issues. I had a visit with Dr. Van Nyugen—she is fantastic! Dr. Nyugen was thorough, encouraging, professional and obviously great expertise. The medical staff are all very professional, very competent and responsive. I highly recommend this office if that is what you’re looking for in an orthopedic specialist.

The entire staff is wonderful. Dr. Yu is a great doc. Repaired my rotator cuff to perfection. His “secret weapon” is Dr. Dave…the Jedi master physical therapist. You should call him Yoda, because the trains a lot of recent graduates. I still go in just to visit with him when I’m in the area. Dr. Yu’s other “secret weapon” is his PA Van Nguyen. She’s a great help in keeping my knees in shape. I wear her personally designed “Vanees” knee sleeves most of the time. I play pickleball three days a week and I’m 76. Great, friendly and way competent specialists and office staff. I’m really a fan of the doctor, his PA, and the physical therapy in the same office. They treat you like family!
