Dr. Derek J. Nelson is originally from Burke SD. He attended SDSU in Brookings SD and graduate school at Northwestern Health Science University in Bloomington MN. Immediately after graduation he moved to Rapid City and has not only enjoyed being a chiropractor in this community, but also all the outdoor opportunities our Black Hills provide as well. He is an avid outdoorsman which includes mentoring youth in the SD Youth Hunting Adventures.Dr. Derek J. Nelson moved to Rapid City in 2008 and has thoroughly enjoyed helping patients in our Black Hills community. His grandfather, Dr. JJ Nelson, was a chiropractor in Burke, SD. Dr. JJ was a huge influence on Dr. Derek becoming a chiropractor. Seeing such a busy office in such a small rural community made it clear to Dr. Nelson at a young age that he too wanted to become a chiropractor.
